Toyota Good For Cricket Raffle

Ahoy there Pirates!!

As we are all aware the 2020/2021 season is going to be a very different one to what have ever experienced before. Nevertheless as a club we still have to continue fundraising as we have fixed costs regardless of how long our season may be.

We have entered into the Toyota Good for Cricket Raffle as a way to assist in covering some of these costs for the season, so for just $5 per ticket, you have the chance to win one of 3 Toyota vehicles. But the best part is that all of the money raised goes straight to our club!!

HOW GOOD IS THAT!!?

Pirates Name New Captains

The Pirates would like to announce and congratulate our new 1st X1 leaders for the 2020/21 season.

Will Crowder has been appointed Captain of the 1sts and will be supported by Tom La Brooy as Vice Captain.

It gives the club great pleasure to award these pivotal roles to two young men who are our very own home grown juniors.

After leading the Pirates to the final of the Jack Peacock cup as captain last season, as well being Vice Captain to Shady in the regular season competition, Crowdsy proved he is more than ready for the job and we can’t wait to see him lead the team into another successful season.

Go Pirates

Welcome Rhys Whitling

The Pirate community would like to welcome Rhys Whitling to the club.

This recruitment has been the best part of 10 years in the making. Rhys comes to the Pirates from Mt Martha Cricket Club where he has had a stellar career as a player and a leader.

Rhys is one of the MPCA’s premier fast bowlers with an incredible record. We are extremely excited to see what he can add to the young bowling brigade at the Pirates.

Whilst Rhys’ addition to our 1st X1 is both promising and exciting, the fact he has joined our coaching panel is even more better news for the club!

Rhys will hold the position of Assistant Coach for the coming season and as a club we will be investing in his leadership and coaching development in order for him to take on more significant responsibilities in the seasons to come.

I will be working closely with Rhys over the course of the season to ensure he is best placed to take this next step.

So please join me in welcoming Rhys, his wife Geraldine and daughter Ava to our community and wish them all the best.

Welcome Justin Grant

It is with great pleasure and excitement that the Peninsula Old Boys Cricket Club would like to announce the arrival of Justin Grant to the Pirates for season 2020/21.

Justin has come across from Mt Eliza CC where he has had an outstanding career as a player and leader. During this time he has had multiple years of representative cricket including for the MPCA at Country Week, Victoria in the Country Cricket Association, as well as a stint in Premier Cricket at Frankston Peninsula CC.

Above all Justin is held in high regards as a person across all cricket ranks. Whilst it’s fantastic to have a cricketer of “Juzzy’s” caliber join the club, we know he will add significantly to building our strong successful culture and further help develop the young home grown talent we currently boast.

From Justin - “Along my journey I’ve been lucky to play along side 5 pirates during country week, the way they pre pare and go about it is something I admire. I like to be professional and believe everything needs to be done with a purpose, and I feel that with Ox as coach and Crowds as captain that will be done.

The fact that the Pirates have played in the finals 9 out of the past 10 years is a credit to you guys and says that what you are doing works.

I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead and hope that I can be a positive influence for the club both on and off the field”.

Juzzy is a consummate professional when it comes to training standards and match preparation and we can’t wait to have him onboard come first preseason training session and round 1... another step in the right direction to making our club better on and off the field.

Please join me in welcoming Justin to the mighty Pirates

Cheers
